Cascarones and Bubbles
A dear friend from San Antonio came to visit our family this weekend. She and I have been friends since elementary school. She surprised the children on Sunday afternoon with bubbles and cascarones. (Mexican confetti eggs) The children had a wonderful time!

Homeschool Week
Candy over at Keeping the Home is sponsoring a homeschool week. We are spring cleaning this week. Therefore, I haven't posted yet. Let's see...
Monday- Library Day-- Every three weeks, we go to the library in a neighboring town. Going to the library with five young children is not for the faint of heart. So note two key things. We go on Monday. It isn't crowded on Mondays. Also, we do intensive training on proper library etiquette before we go. It is alot of fun to come home and read the afternoon away.
Tuesday-- This was a typical homeschool day. -- We ate breakfast, did our chores and then began our Bible study. We are studying the parables of Jesus. I read the Parable of the Lost Sheep and the kids colored a coloring page of the Bible story. (There are many, many coloring pages on the internet. I normally just Google the topic and choose the page and print.)
Then we had our table time. The olders did a page in their language arts workbook. The younglings worked in their preschool workbook. We discussed all items and corrected any incorrect items. Then we took turns watching our MathUSee videos. (We normally do this on Mondays.) After watching their video, my three oldest worked on their math pages. The young ones worked a jumbo puzzle. Then Jonah (7) and Noah (4) did their handwriting. Hannah worked on an ongoing story of about a Mouse Princess.
Then we had lunch and cleaned up. The kids went outside and played for a while. And baby girl came inside for her nap.
Then we read a biography about Ponce de Leon. The kids worked on notebook pages after the story. Normally, they all make pictures or color picture for their notebooks. My 7yo and 4yo write a sentence or two in their notebooks to go with the entry. My 9 yo is capable of writing entire stories. I normally limit her to a paragraph or two.

Here are some sample of our notebooks.

Quiet Time--- My favorite time of the day!--- Baby girl is still sleeping. My 3 yo and 4yo get into bed with books and toys. I start some classical music. They may not get up until the CD is over. Sometimes they look at books. Sometimes they play. Sometimes they sleep. My 9 yo and 7 yo get on the sofa with their books and read. I either read or clean or sometimes rest.
After this they are free. Daddy is normally home by now and they enjoy being with him. They are either in the garden, or playing basketball or jumping on the trampoline.
Wednesday-- It was a typical homeschool day except after Bible Story we put on a puppet show. I try to change things up a bit to make it interesting. You can see our puppet show on the post below this one.

The Parables of the Lost Sheep and Lost Coin
I got really distracted and tickled at our "bleating sheep". The kids had so much fun with this!
